New ART Bus Route Links Shirlington, Nauck to Pentagon City Metrorail

ART Route 82 begins Oct. 3; changes to ART 74, ART 73 ends

ARLINGTON, Va. - Several changes to the Arlington Transit (ART) bus routes are planned for Oct. 3 - including a new route, ART 82 - providing direct service from Shirlington and Nauck to the Pentagon City Metrorail station.

It also will serve the 24th Road and Kenmore Street areas of the Nauck neighborhood. ART 82 will run weekdays during morning rush period from 6:20 - 9:35 a.m. and evening rush period from 3:40 - 6:22 p.m.

ART 74 route revised

With the addition of ART 82, the route for ART 74 will be revised. The new ART 82 route will cover the south portion of the current ART 74 route on Shirlington Road and 24th Road. Passengers who currently ride ART 74 in this area will switch to ART 82 and see reduced ride times to the Pentagon City Station during morning rush periods.

The revised ART 74 route provides shortened ride times for the remaining passengers and adds a loop to include Arlington View. ART 74 - Douglas Park-Arlington Village-Pentagon City runs weekdays during morning rush period from 6:11 - 9:26 a.m. and evening rush period from 3:30 to 7:45 p.m.

ART 73 service ends

Due to low ridership, ART 73 - Arlington Heights-Penrose-Pentagon City, will end on Oct. 3. Passengers who rode ART 73 in the Arlington View area will now be served by ART 74. The other areas served by ART 73 - 2nd Street and Filmore/Walter Reed Drive - will continue to be served by Metrobus routes 10 and 24, along with the Pike Ride 16 route buses on Columbia Pike.
